Après avoir soutenu en 2013 une thèse sur l’imitation dans la culture timouride (prix de la meilleure thèse de l’IISMM attribué en 2016) et occupé des postes postdoctoraux à l’Université Libre d’Amsterdam (VU, 2014-2015), à l’Université de Californie de Los Angeles (UCLA, 2015-2016) et à l’EHESS (Paris, 2016-2017), Marc Toutant est depuis 2017 chargé de recherche au CNRS et chargé de cours à l’INALCO.
Ses recherches prennent appui sur les sources rédigées en turc chaghatay (türkī), en ottoman et en persan, pour étudier les phénomènes d’interactions culturelles dans le monde turco-persan (Asie centrale, Inde moghole, empire ottoman).

After having defended a dissertation in 2013 about the imitation process in Timurid culture (IISMM 2016 award of the best PhD dissertation) and being a post-doctoral researcher at the VU University Amsterdam (VU, 2014-2015), at the University of California (UCLA, 2015-2016) and at the EHESS (Paris, 2016-2017), Marc Toutant is since 2017 a research fellow at the CNRS (Paris) and a lecturer at the INALCO.
His research uses sources in Chaghatay (türkī), Ottoman and Persian languages to study cultural interactions in the Turkish-Iranian world (Ottoman Empire, Central Asia, Moghul India).
